02Responsible storytelling

Ethics are part of the craft.

The people in development stories often have the least power in the room. Our standards are designed to protect them — and to protect the credibility of the organizations we work with.

  • Ethical interviewing

Contributors are briefed in their own language on who the content is for, where it will appear and their right to stop at any time.

  • Safeguarding

We follow the commissioning organization's safeguarding policy, take extra care with children and vulnerable people, and default to anonymity when risk is unclear.

  • Informed consent

Consent is recorded separately from interviews, limits (no face, first name only, no location) travel with the footage into the edit, and withdrawal is honoured.

  • Accessibility

Captions, transcripts and plain-language versions so content reaches people with disabilities and low-literacy audiences.

  • Confidentiality

NDAs on request, secure file handling, and restricted access to sensitive footage and personal data.

  • Factual accuracy

Claims are checked against programme data and attributed to their source. We never overstate impact.
